Last Christmas (2019)

dir. Paul Feig. I’m a mess. I loved this movie, maybe it’s the social isolation or the missus being away, but I loved this movie more than anything, since THE FAREWELL (2019). Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding are heartbreaking and so charming together, real movie star chemistry—they should make more movies together. A romantic comedy for the Brexit generation. Michelle Yeoh (with her Sauerkraut lover, Boy) is delightful and makes me want to rewatch other movies where she is the romantic lead, she’s so amazing. It really is a new perfect Christmas movie. Emma Thompson as the mother (and producer/co-screen writer!) is brilliant and hilarious. The George Michael songs are background to the wonderful romance and drama.
